Mike Seybold

Mike Seybold is a professional jazz/rock guitarist with over 30 years of live performing experience and over 22 years as a music instructor who recently relocated to the Cincinnati area from Houston, Tx.
At a very young age, Mike’s joy of listening to music evolved into wanting to learn how to play guitar at age 10 after being inspired by Angus Young and AC/DC’s ‘Let There Be Rock’ album. Since then, he has gained a much deeper understanding and appreciation for all things music.
During the mid-90’s, while attending San Jacinto College Central, Mike was selected as best guitarist twice in 1994 and 1996 and won the International Association of Jazz Educators national jazz ensemble award for both years. He was also selected twice to win the Texas Music Educators Association all state jazz ensemble award for guitar again in both 1994 and 1996.
Mike has performed all over the continental United States, also South America and Europe. Throughout his career, he’s had the opportunity to open for acts such as: Lyle Lovett, Bad Company, Loverboy, Ronnie Milsap and Carlos Santana. Billy Gibbons has played his Fender Stratocaster and he’s also acquired a Prince guitar pick! He has played at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Umbria, Italy five times where he was able to meet and interact with at least two of his childhood heroes- John Scofield and George Benson.
When it comes to music, Mike is committed to professionalism and communication. Being a working guitarist, Mike is well versed in playing many different genres and is very capable of communicating how to achieve these things.
